Jisoo and Jennie are not the animals most lists give
The zodiac year does not turn on 1 January. It turns at 입춘 (Ipchun), the start of spring, around 4 February. Anyone born in January or the first days of February belongs to the previous year’s animal.

Why the animal is the least of it
The animal comes from one character: the branch of the birth year. A chart has eight, and the one a reading starts from is the day master — the upper character of the day pillar, which changes every day rather than every year. Two people born in the same animal year can have nothing else in common.
That is also why the hour matters. Without a birth time, two of the eight characters are missing, which is the honest limit of every chart on this page.
